"I never knew I could draw like this" Year 7 Drawing Progress (Year 7, 2017)

Throughout KS3 our students develop their drawing through a range of drawing exercises which stem from Drawing on the Right Side of The Brain by Betty Edwards, these skills are then further developed through tonal drawing homework. The teaching of drawing is based upon two ideas, the first is to teach through misconception; to bring the students toward an understanding of why we may fall into certain traps when we draw. The second is to model and deconstruct the thought process an Artist makes when they draw, by verbalising these thought processes into simplified stages. These exercises ultimately build our student's confidence in Art, and support their work in other medias.
