Self-Portrait Tonal Drawing (Year 8, 2017)

At the beginning of year 8 our students embark upon a challenging self-portrait project. This project sees our students analysing how portraiture has changed over time, developing their historical understanding and analytical skills. The students then develop an A3 tonal self-portrait, this element builds upon prior learning with a particular focus on proportions and tonal values. Linking to other artists studied, our students have used the format of a self-portrait in order to convey personality and mood.
